Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.

Today, I’m coming to you with a lighter, happier topic. (Thankfully.)

This past weekend was Pokémon Go Fest- which some of you don’t care about, and some of you are probably already rolling your eyes at me.  That’s okay too.

But for those of you who care to listen, Pokémon Go Fest is $15 and guarantees you 20 hours (10 hours on Saturday & Sunday) worth of exclusive, playable content.  At first, to some people, this doesn’t sound like it’s worth much of anything.

For my generation however, the 90’s babies, Pokémon was everything.

So, instead of cancelling Go Fest, like everything else has had to be cancelled (Bristol Renaissance Faire, I’m looking at you) it went virtual!

So, while it was a last-minute decision, Angel and I decided it would be fun to do Go Fest.

Thank you LeekDuck.com for these awesome photos explaining how Go Fest2020 worked, if you’re a Pokémon Go player like me, you should totally check them out!  You should also add me if you want to, my trainer code is 4932  5812  0857 I’m a daily player, I send gifts, and I don’t have many friends (in both real life AND Go) so I could always use more!

Anyways, so Day #1 featured 5 habitats that rotated each hour.

  • Fire.
  • Water.
  • Grass.
  • Battle.
  • Friendship.

They have an updated link on leek.gg/gofest of what appeared in the wild that day during each of the hours.

It also featured a free remote raid pass bundle with 3 free remote raid passes, encounters with G and O Unowns, and if you took a snapshot during this time, you’d encounter Wash Rotom.  I caught two of him, and both Unown.

Some other awesome bonuses were more potent incense that lasted an hour, you could open and send 200 gifts, and you contributed to the Global Challenge Arena to potentially unlock special rewards! (We got all 3 special week rewards, Dragon Week, Enigma Week, and Unova week, and I couldn’t be happier.)

Certain Pokémon were also hatching out of 7km eggs that weren’t seen often or harder to catch.

Speaking of hard to catch, I got SO. MANY. FEEBAS!  Now, if only I didn’t need to walk 1.2 more km with the little prick to make him evolve…

I think the absolute best part of Go Fest however, were the raid bosses.

Day one you could get a Kyogre and a Groudon!  Both of which I caught.

Day two was equally as amazing, you could catch Dialga, Palkia, Giratina (Altered), and Giratina (Origin).  I was lucky enough to get Dialga and Giratina (Origin), while Palkia evaded me even after beating his raid.

As for shiny Pokémon my luck was minimal at best.  I did however get a shiny Tangela, which I was able to evolve into Tangrowth.

Angel however hit the motherload she got a shiny Dratini, and a shiny Pikachu.  Not much but a pink Dratini?  Jeallous.

I loved the Team Rocket takeover.

I got some amazing rewards (20 rare candies! Yes, please!)

I was also lucky enough to beat 3/6 defeating Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra and got Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos.  Not to mention the impossible of beating the Team GO Rocket Boss, Giovanni, and got Mewtwo!  As a bonus for doing so, I caught Victini!

Angel also got all three Legendary birds, Mewtwo, and Victini!

What’s next for me?  Well… the two of us absolutely cannot wait for the Ultra Unlock Weeks.

  1. Dragon Week July 31st-August 7th

Timed research that’s rewarded with one of the Pokémon that I desperately want: Deino.

Five Star Raids featuring one of Angel’s all-time favorite Pokémon Rayquaza.

As well as finding Dratinis, Swablu, Bagon, and again, the one I desperately want Deino in the wild and from eggs!

Deino is also available in shiny!

  • Enigma Week August 7th-August 14th

Brand new shiny Pokémon!

Cleffa and Igglybuff from eggs!

Raids will also feature another Pokémon that I really want, Deoxys.

  • Unova Week August 14th-August 21st

Three new & rare Pokémon that I’ve never seen before appear in the wild and from eggs, Emolga, Cottonee, and Sewaddle- one of which looks like a sugar glider, so you know I need it!

New shiny Pokémon appear!

Genesect will be available in Raids, and he’s also going to be shiny!

So here’s what I know for sure right now.  $15×2= $30.

$30 for 2 days-worth of guaranteed gameplay, exclusive research, and the three Ultra Unlock weeks.  Add that on top of precious time spent together, and the fun we’ll have in the next 3 weeks, 100% worth every penny spent and every memory made.
