Be Kind.

Hello August,

The time of spoopy is almost upon us, and while part of me wants to get incredibly excited over the thought of Jack Skellington everything, part of me just wants to crawl under a rock and hide.  Halloween, horror movies, watching the Halloween Baking Championship on Food Network, and finding NBC treasure (Nightmare Before Christmas for those of you who don’t know) used to be something me and my mom used to do together.

With her gone, now all I can seem to think of are the things she won’t be here for.

(Obviously not this year, thanks to Covid-19 but, next year. And the year after that, and the one after that.)

  • Apple Picking
  • Pumpkin Carving
  • Horror Movies
  • Halloween Baking Championship
  • The Renaissance Faire
  • The County Fair

It’s a bittersweet feeling… knowing that the person you love isn’t in pain anymore but knowing that you would do anything just to see them one more time.

So please, August, be kind.  Come in quietly, take a seat, and try not to hurt me anymore than you already have to.

-Sky
