Hello again from the Darkside,
I wish I could say I have cookies, but I don’t. However, in about 20-minutes or so, Angel will be coming to pick me up from work, and she’ll be bringing me a bologna sandwich because someone in my house decided that they wanted to eat all of the cheese.
(You totally suck by the way, if you’re reading this.)
I wanted my grandfather’s favorite tonight, tomato, cheese, and Miracle Whip. Which might sound weird, it kind of is but, it’s also really good.
Today, I’m here to talk to you about all kinds of things but, mainly the Pokémon GO Ultra Unlock weeks. Which, if I’m being 100% honest, I was extremely disappointed with.

Week #1: Dragon Week July 31st-August 7th 2020
While absolutely everything about this week sounds like it would have been up my alley, to be 100% honest… it sucked. The “special, timed research” took all of four hours to complete. While I did get the two guaranteed Deino from completing these tasks, I feel more than a little scammed by the fact that I hatched over 300 7km eggs by myself, not even counting how many Angel hatched (we both had over 20 super incubators), and we didn’t get the shiny. Between the two of us, we hatched exactly 3 f.r.e.a.k.i.n.g. Deino. You read that right, three. The rest were all Swablu or Trapinch, or if they were feeling particularly spiteful… Horsea.
Sure, we have our Hydreigons- thank you rare candy from raids and walking- but seriously?
As for Rayquaza… we each have a shiny and a normal.
It was more like Swablu week.
I did end it however with a shiny Swablu and a Trapinch (which has since been turned into Flygon).
Week #2: Enigma Week August 7th-August 14th 2020
Is it possible for Enigma Week to have been worse than Dragon Week? I think so.
Not only was there no special research to do but, Angel and I busted our a.s.s.e.s. doing almost two raids every single day- sometimes more, beat Deoxys every time, and only caught 3 altogether. Not a single shiny.
I did however catch the ever elusive shiny Staryu, which I traded off to Angel.
No matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t find Unown raids, or kept getting invited to U or A raids.
On the 13th however, I did catch a shiny Cyndaquil- which I will also be giving Angel. She loves that silly little Pokémon.
August Community Day August 8th, 2020- right smack in the middle of the Ultra Unlock weeks!

All of those things sound absolutely awesome, especially when you pair that with the fact that you are G.U.A.R.A.N.T.E.E.D. to get a Gyarados! Factor in the possibility for shiny Magikarp and Angel and I were 110% in.
I caught three shiny Magikarp- Angel got like eight of those little bastards, one of which did become a red, shiny Gyarados by the end of the day alongside the rewarded Gyarados, and the lucky that I evolved thanks to Angel and I swapping back and forth until we both wound up with lucky Magikarp.
Week #3: Unova Week August 14th-August 21st 2020
Can I bitch about a week that started the day before yesterday? Yes?
We’ve fought in, I can’t even tell you how many Genesect raids and she only just caught one today. I have gotten Emolga, Sewaddle, and Cottonee, like I wanted but other than that? All I’ve been seeing is Oshawott- which is absolutely adorable, and I love it but… seriously? I’ve caught at least 400 Roggenrola and not a single shiny.
If I catch my shiny Roggenrola, I’ll definitely let you know.
Don’t even get me started on Bouffalant and how we can’t catch him because we don’t live in New York City. That is so bogus.
Can I demand a Chicago specific Pokémon please? If they get one, I definitely want one too.
Five days left. We’ll see what happens, so I may just leave it at that.
…you know, on second thought she’s here with my bologna sandwich, I’ll post this Sunday afternoon so I can get the Pokémon GOFest Makeup Day stuff in here too.

Pokémon GOFest Makeup Day August 16th, 2020 from 11am-2pm
…A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E. B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T…
I have so many things to say about today, most of which are negative. Angel and I got up early before I had to be at work, packed my work lunch, and we made sure we were in our major Pokémon GO “hub” area where there are a bunch of gyms, Pokéstops, and usually a load of raids.
(You want to have plenty of balls and berries for these kinds of events, right? Not to mention that the two of us have been absolutely hoarding our berries since we heard there was going to be a makeup event.)
Well, within 5 minutes of being at the park Angel caught a shiny Torchic. She was super excited, and I don’t blame her one bit! That girl is a shiny Pokémon magnet!
I was hoping to catch a shiny Ponyta or a shiny Alolan Marowak- sadly, I didn’t get either.
I didn’t get any shiny Pokémon from Fire Hour.
From water, I did get a shiny (pink) Quilfish. Which… to tell you the truth? Absolutely disappointing.
Angel got no shiny during this hour but, she did get a shiny (green!) Chansey for friendship hour, which made her happy!
Finally, as for Rare Candies coming out of gifts? That may have been true but between the two of us, despite all of our hoarding, we were only able to send and receive 30 gifts out of the countless that we’d saved up for.
Oh well, we’ll try again next year.
