Rouladen, Riots, Recovery, & Other Ridiculous R-Words.

Hello again, my people.

Last week, as I’m sure you all remember, I took a rather graceful fall down my basement stairs… and by graceful, I mean I crumbled like a stale cookie.  A little over a week later- about 9-days actually- and my bruises and swelling have come and entirely overstayed their damn welcome… and then some.

Speaking of which, I had my follow-up appointment with my GP on Friday, and according to him, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with me, I don’t need crutches, the air brace that the ER gave me, or to keep my foot wrapped.  Instead of doing anything remotely pertaining to the reason I was there- including even physically LOOKING at my foot (which he didn’t do- nor did he let me remove the bandage or the air cast to show him) he instead decided to prescribe me medications for depression and anxiety because I’ve “been through an awful lot lately.”  He wouldn’t even listen to me when I tried telling him that the 600mg ibuprofen that I’m supposed to be taking every 6 hours for pain has been making me sick with heartburn to the point that nothing helps.  But… thanks anyways Doc?

Does this look like “nothing” to you?  No.  Didn’t think so.

It’s fair to say I’m looking for a new doctor and a second opinion ASAP.

In the past few days, I was able to bully my grandmother into making rouladen!  This is an accomplishment in and of itself if you’ve ever made rouladen, a lot of time and work goes into it but it is so good!

As for my Wisconsinites and Illinoisans out there… I’m hoping you’re all staying safe.  I don’t want to get into too much detail or too many politics but, we are all living in terrifying times right now.  One of the towns most effected by all of the rioting and looting is only a few minutes away from where we live, and after seeing some of the damage people are willing to do to others property, homes, and businesses… I’m scared.  I’m scared for my life, the lives of my friends, the lives of my family, and the lives of innocent bystanders whose homes, businesses that have done nothing to be dragged into this.

Aside from getting ready for Angel to finally go back home on September 10th, not much new has happened.  I did however hear that actor Chadwick Boseman had tragically passed away due to colon cancer, and for once, I think everyone can agree on something when we say #FuckCancer.

While I could probably drag this post out forever, I think it’s time I wrap things up.  It’s almost time for shift change, which means Angel and I are off to Walmart to grab some ingredients, and then we’re going to do a copycat recipe for Panda Express Mushroom Chicken, and maybe make a couple other cool things while we’re at it.

Who knows, I may post about it later!

See ya,

Stay Safe & Healthy. -Sky

    1. I’m sorry I just saw this, somehow it wound up in my spam box.
However, I would like to tell you that no, this isn’t a paid theme. I use Scratchpad, which is available freely under the Free tab on WordPress for themes! I like that I can customize most colors and fonts!
