Somethings Gotta Give.
I think it might be safe to say that I’m stuck living in some kind of messed up TV sitcom, and I want out.
That’s right, you heard me. I quit.
Yesterday, I was hoping for a simple, lazy day at home. I had a couple things I wanted to get done but, nothing major. I went out in the afternoon, got my car washed, picked up the stuff I needed to detail and clean the inside of my car, and then I’d planned to use the Rain-X anti-fog treatment that I bought on Prime Day. It did not go as planned.
Nope, I got stung by a bee. For those of you who don’t know, I’m allergic to bees. FML.
Today, still feeling like crap after that bee sting and a migraine to boot, I laid down with a pizza and the Haunting of Bly Manor just to find out that my grandma was in a car accident. The little brother and I flew out of the house so fast that honestly, it’s a miracle I was able to remember my wallet and my keys, and I am beyond glad that I chose to throw on that awful boot I’ve been lugging around with me. My first thought was to leave it at home and just take off in my flip-flops, and that would’ve been bad.
Grandma is okay, the Volkswagen is not.
To add insult to injury, as I flew out the door, my tire pressure light came on. So, I had to quickly swing into an air pump before trying to fly off to her rescue… which did not go as planned. That tire pressure light wound up turning into an absolute flat tire and So. Much. Anxiety. Roadside assistance came to help me while my older brother’s girlfriend went to take care of my grandma, and then I was off to get a new tire.
Let’s just say that if you’re ever in the area and you need tires, go to Discount Tire in Johnsburg. I needed to get 2 tires replaced today, and since I was there less than 2-months ago, they replaced them both and put them on for only $26. Yup, you read that correctly, twenty-six dollars. That’s it. No more, no less. They also suggested that I get an alignment stat- they even suggested a mechanic and said that they sent me, I’d be given a discount. Doug, if by chance you’re reading this, you and your team are amazing. Thank you for being nice to me.
Now, when you add that to the information that I’d been given about my foot at the orthopedic surgeon on Monday… I’m just done. D.O.N.E. Stick a fork in me, done.
I am still the very unwilling and unhappy owner of a nondisplaced intra-articular fracture of the medial cuboid bone with additional avulsion fracture along the lateral aspect of the cuboid bone at the calcaneocuboid ligament attachment and a partial-thickness tear of the anterior talofibular ligament and the calcaneal fibular ligament. His reason for not being able to tell me this in the beginning despite two x-rays before the Gods awful MRI is that what I have is supposedly impossible to see on an x-ray.
Is it? Maybe. I don’t know. I’m not a doctor.
Could they have listened to me however when I said something was wrong 56-days ago. He also says that I should have been healed by now, which I entirely understand but I am still experiencing pain and very limited mobility, and he can’t tell me why, so he’s referred me to a podiatric surgeon.
That would be just fine and bloody dandy if the one that he referred me to would actually see me, let alone take my damn insurance. Argh.
For now, I’m exhausted. I have to call Motus in the morning, and I also have to call around and find myself a podiatrist before I can’t take the pain, swelling, and lack of motion anymore, and I decide that I’m just going to cut it off and be a pirate instead. (obviously joking of course.)
It’s 3:30a.m. where I am, and I need to go to bed.
Goodnight.
