Hear ye, hear ye! (Announcements!)

I feel like I need a village crier or maybe some kind of trumpet led grand entrance for this, maybe.  However, since I don’t have either of those things, I guess I’m just going to have to make do with what I’ve got… a cup of coffee and a half-assed achievement on my Duolingo app….

Okay, that’s kind of sad.

Really sad, if I’m being honest.  But I’m proud of myself and the progress that I’ve made, and I’d like to share that here, even if there’s no one else I can share it with.

Since September 10th when Angel left, I set a little goal for myself.  I called it Preptember as an homage to Preptober, which is a commonplace practice among a lot of people who participate in NaNoWriMo.  So, this right here is going to be my official announcement that I am going to be participating in NaNoWriMo2020.

My goals for this year are simple- okay, not really; but here they are anyways. I guess I’m officially a Plantser.

Goals:

  1. To write 50,000 words over the course of NaNoWriMo (November)
    1. My Project is going to be my current WIP: Something Wicked.

(Just a side note, it is my absolute hope and dream- whether its realistic or not that I will finish at least my first draft but, I won’t beat myself up if I can’t.)

  • Participate in the NaNoWriMo forums!

Not exactly a goal here but, I want to form strong bonds with fellow writers and maybe even make a couple writing buddies that I can do writing sprints with!  How cool would it be to have people to help keep me accountable on my goals?

  • Make at least one post here each week on my weekly goals for NaNo, keep you up to date with my progress, how I’m doing, and maybe post some fun teasers and quotes from my WIP.
  • Have fun.

Okay, now, I know this doesn’t look like it belongs on a goal sheet but, with all of the crazy stuff going on in my life right now, I’m finding it really hard to stop and do things for myself.  Things like sitting down when my leg starts to hurt, or sleep in past 9:30a.m. no matter what time I got home from work and crawled into bed the night before.  So yes, I think this definitely belongs here.

  • Find, and participate in a NaNoWriMo Instagram challenge.

Does that sound silly?  Yes.  Does it also sound like a lot of fun?  Hell yes, I saw their prompts for NaNo Prep2020 and it looks like a lot of fun but, since I’m just now seeing it, I don’t want to jump in with only 11-days left.

That reminds me, it is already October 19th, there are only 11-days of October left.  I feel like I blinked one day and it was September, and then it was October 6th and I was having my MRI, and now it’s the 19th and I’m screaming.  Because I’m not ready.  I’m not ready for Halloween season to be over yet, and I’m not ready for November, and I’m not ready for NaNoWriMo, so once I’m done with this post, I’m probably going to take a quick, 10-minute brainstorm session to try to figure out how to become ready in the next 11-days, and then better refine that list tomorrow because it’s 2:30a.m right now.

Speaking of goals and announcements, this girl right here has officially been taking German lessons on Duolingo for 25-days.  There is nothing more satisfying to me right now than being able to look at all of my little flames in a row and knowing that I’m actually sticking to it.  It isn’t just something that I got bored and picked up one day, and then walked away from 3-5 days later.

Progress, not perfection.

So, goodnight for now.
