Hello again! I wanted to write this yesterday, while everything was fresh in my mind but sadly, life had other plans. As I said in my last post, yesterday, we’d planned a miniature road trip up to Wisconsin in search of what TikTok called the World’s Largest Mozzarella sticks.
Well, after an hour and 15-minutes in the car, we found them!
Alphonso’s The Original can be found at 1119 S 108th ST, West Allis, WI 53214 and are currently working under one roof with Kings and Queens Jamaican Kitchen. And I have nothing but incredible things to say about them!
We left our house around 2:30pm, yesterday, on Thursday and arrived at about 4:06 after accidentally passing it because we saw the sign too late. Oops. But, the man working there was great! He was very friendly, even though we’d accidentally interrupted his lunch. When we told him what we’d come in search of, the smile on his face was unmistakable. According to him, people have come from as far away as Alaska and Texas to try their Lightning Rods. (And after trying them ourselves? We 100% understand why.)
First, aside from the incredible service we received, let me just tell you that there is no gimmick here. These mozzarella sticks are H U G E. They’re incredibly massive, even compared to my 6’3 little brother, with his massive bear paw hands. Only then can I tell you that I love mozzarella sticks, and that I have never had better ones in my life, no matter where I’ve gone. The cheese is high quality, the breading is delicious, and the sauce has the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.
The cheese pull was insanity.
Cheesy!
We bought four of them. Between myself and my grandmother, we couldn’t even finish 1/3rd of our shared mozzarella stick. And my brother, who can usually eat an entire large pizza all to himself, couldn’t even make it halfway. My brother, Matthew, and his girlfriend Dana got farther than all of us, in eating the mozzarella stick we brought home for them! Not to mention, they warm up really, really well!

So, if you’re ever up for a roadtrip, or just in West Allis, Wisconsin I 1000000000000000000000000000% recommend going to Alphonso’s. I know we will definitely be going back, and telling all of our friends!
After that, we swung past Mars Cheese Castle for some cheese whips, an Idaho Potato chocolate bar (which tastes like a marshmallow), and some really strange Reese’s Pieces dessert cheese, which just tastes like peanut butter cheese cake.
That’s all for now!
