This, I tell myself, as I sit at work on Friday night, thinking back and reminiscing on all of the good times I had with Roswell. My Alien. My Juke. And I can wholeheartedly tell you that she was a damn good girl. We went everywhere together. Wisconsin, Indiana, and even Iowa that one time by accident.
She kept me safe through four springs, summers, and three winters.
Not once did she ever spin out, or leave me in a ditch.
She was quirky. If anyone but me drove her, the next time I got in that passenger’s seat, a check engine light would be on. She did not like the cold, or the wet- but on a summer day you could drive her for hours and hours, blasting the radio, and singing your heart out. The Juke was the last car I picked out with my mom. The car I taught Angel to drive in. The car I was teaching Pip, my little brother, to drive in.
I loved her dearly, and I always will.
But, today, I’d like to introduce you to the next chapter of my life: Nightmare.
I picked her up on Monday morning, so I’ve only had her 3-4 days. It hasn’t even been a full week yet but, here’s what I can tell you so far. She is a 2015, Jeep Renegade Trailhawk, and I feel like I’ve been driving her for years. I got a KILLER deal on her from Gurnee Jeep.
She isn’t what I saw coming. She isn’t even what I thought I wanted. Maybe that’s why I love her so much in a way because, she’s the love I didn’t know I wanted but, the love that I needed. Nightmare has brand new tires, brakes, and the works. Heated leather seats, a heated leather steering wheel, 4WD drive, Bluetooth capabilities. You name it, and at this point I’m pretty sure she has it.
I’ve gotten Pip behind the wheel already, and I think that’s pretty cool- she’s going to be the vehicle he learns how to drive in. Hopefully, it’ll also be the vehicle that gives him a little independence. Just like it’s doing for me.
Even my Grandma’s gotten behind the wheel.
And as for Bear- he has his very own, brand new puppy dog seat. Gotta protect the leather from his nails, and doggy fur, if at all humanly possible. He gets up and in better than he did with the Juke, surprisingly. He seems to love being up higher, and also that his window goes all the way down for Prime Snooting. (Gotta have a place for my snoot!)
Speaking of my family- my older brother Matthew got engaged on 10/5/21. He and his fiancée Dana also got into a big wreck coming home from visiting family out of state, where his Jeep, Riptide, was totaled. (R.I.P. Riptide, thanks for keeping my family safe.) Both he, and my little brother, Pip, are trying to convince me to make Nightmare an Instagram page, and post every time I modify her. However, the closest thing to modifying her I’ll probably get, is just a few decals- though, honestly, who knows! If I’m being honest though, I secretly enjoy the idea, if only because it gives me even more of an excuse to take and post pictures of Bear being adorable. I doubt he minds- Koda Bear LOVES car rides.
(I guess he’s a Jeep’n dog now.)
I guess that’s all for this post. What do you think? Does my Jeep need an Instagram, or does Bear?
