There are times in life where you must lose the things you thought you wanted, to find the things that you really need. Or… you know, some other philosophical crap like that. Right now, all I know is that the past month and a half has been a lot. It’s come with a lot of hard-to-swallow pills that I don’t think anyone was ready for.
The last time I checked in was when I’d just gotten back from Canada with Angel. I was supposed to be picking her up for this great big road trip of 2022 that, like all road trips was supposed to change us somehow. Because isn’t that what road trips are supposed to do? Aren’t they supposed to change you, and teach you things, and help you grow closer to the people that you’re with? And it did… just not in the ways that I think anyone expected.
The drive out to Utah was wild.
In no way did it go the way that we’d originally planned for or wanted. On April 21st, we packed up the Jeep, got a car wash, and headed off on our way. The first leg of the trip was great. We made it to Wolcott, Iowa in about three hours, where we explored the World’s Largest Truck Stop, and went to eat at Gramma’s Kitchen. A restaurant that I’d seen on the Food Network with mom years ago, famous of their pork tenderloin sandwich. (Which we did get, and oh my God! But more on that later)
What should’ve taken us 20-hours to get from Ingleside, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah wound up taking almost 36-hours. In total, we drove through rain, sleet, snow, hail, and fog, and that’s just on the way out to Utah. That doesn’t factor in all of the road closures, the tornado we nearly missed, the fires that were raging and rerouted us several times on our way back home, or the mountains in general.
To add insult to injury, there was also a massive problem with our hotel. We had to be moved and placed in an entirely different hotel because it was a situation of false advertising, as well as discrimination, and the room we were given was flat out unclean. There was mold, and it was dirty, and they refused to let me speak to a manager, and the whole thing was just a massive debacle that I do intend on making an entire post about- as well as a post about the rooms we were given instead later so, please stay tuned for that.
This post is mostly just to inform you all that I am back, I am no longer working at the gambling establishment- which I may or may not comment on further at a later date as well because I’m still trying to get over the mental and emotional trauma caused by that whole situation. And to tell you that I have an official new posting schedule that I wanted to share with you, my beloved readers.
So, the new schedule goes as follows, every Sunday from now on, you will be getting a new post from me! Some of them may be pre-written and scheduled posts, depending on what’s going on in my personal life and whatnot but, there will be times where I may just have something important to say, or something on my mind, and so I’ll have that out to you every Sunday, hopefully by 7pm Central Time.
In addition to that, every other Wednesday I’ll be popping in to provide you with a folklore post. What that means exactly is that I’ll be coming on here to talk to you about folklore related topics. I’ve been doing a lot of work on my current WIP Something Wicked, and in doing so I’ve been learning a lot about Irish and Gaelic folklore, so you can look forward to seeing a lot of that. Though, I’ll also be posting about Germanic folklore, and other folklore topics from around the world. Someday, I’m hoping to collaborate with other writers, or creators who maybe know more about different cultures and their folklore to broaden my horizons even more but, as this is a new idea that I have for this blog, I’m trying to start out small.
I’d also like to start doing some public Character Building every other Monday or so. So, if there’s anything you want to know about my characters or the writing process concerning them, go ahead and leave me a comment here, or on any of my other social media platforms. I’ll leave my linktree below. Because I feel like it would really help me as a writer to really round out their personalities and such.
