(TW: Chronic Illness, Depression)
I’m sick and tired of being bedbound.
I feel like I’m going to go nuts if something doesn’t change soon, and I know that for the most part it won’t. I wake up in the morning, toss and turn, sometimes I fall back asleep, and sometimes I either watch whatever is playing on the TV, or I’ll doomscroll through TikTok until Angel gets up. Then we get breakfast and lay around some more. We pick something to watch while we eat, and I try not to let her catch me scratching and digging at my stitches, which are red, irritated, and probably infected.
After all, you’re not supposed to leave wound dressings on and alone for two weeks without changing them, cleaning the area, and redressing it safely. However, that’s exactly what my doctor wants me to do, even though my skin is starting to blister under the surgical tape, and the whole area, before we finished removing the bandages and tape to change them felt like it was hotter than the surface of the sun.
I’ve gotten to escape a couple of times. By that, I mean a doctor’s office, and the store once to pick up supplies we needed with Angel. Aside from that, though, it’s picking a streaming service and watching reruns. So far, we’ve watched all of House, M.D. and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. We also watched Umma, The Black Phone, They/Them, and also turned on Goosebumps for background noise. We also plan to watch the Hobbit movies (of course), and Rings of Power on Prime, as well as Turning Red on Disney+, and on the 30th, we’ll obviously be watching the premier of Hocus Pocus 2 with the family.
Aside from that, I’ve been doing a little bit of reading, and I’m beyond thankful that my library offers e-books through the Libby app. Otherwise, I would keep Angel up all night when I can’t sleep, because paper books are not backlit, and it would require me to have the lights on. (Have I mentioned how much I love her, and how lucky I am to have her? Because I am. She cooks for us, gets me the things that I need, has done all of the driving since I’ve had surgery, and she doesn’t complain. She should complain but, she hasn’t yet.)
If anyone out there reading this has more suggestions for what we should watch, drop them in the comments. Because, as much as I complain about being bedbound, I would never hear the end of it if I were to ruin my stitches entirely.

Quick note: Sky from the future here, we spent the day in bed watching movies- including Turning Red and Grandma got us Chinese for dinner since Pip (the little brother) got swarmed by bees while mowing the lawn. Overall, it was an okay day. I love my people.
