Hello again, my lovely ghouls and garden gremlins,
You may have noticed the eerie quiet echoing from The Crippled Cryptid lately. I promise it wasn’t a ghost (well… not entirely). Life simply crept in with all its weight and whispers, and I found myself pulled into the mist for a while.
Winter, in all its bone-deep chill and heavy skies, tends to wrap around me like fog—thick and lingering. My chronic illness decided it was time for another haunting, and between the physical flares, emotional fog, and that good ol’ seasonal slump, I needed to rest in my hollow for a bit longer than planned.
And if that weren’t enough, Luna—my bright-eyed, ever-bouncy Australian Cattle Dog—has been deep in training to become my medical alert service dog. It’s been a journey of triumphs, tennis balls, and tiny but mighty milestones. She’s truly my little moonbeam in the darkness.
But just because I’ve been quiet doesn’t mean I’ve been still.
While I’ve been away, I’ve whispered a bit of new life into this blog—rearranged the bones, dusted off the cobwebs, and added a few enchanted nooks and crannies for you to explore. You’ll find brand new pages like The Bookwyrm’s Lair for all my bookish ramblings, Luna’s Logbook to chronicle her training adventures, Cryptid Frequencies for playlists both haunting and heartwarming, and Garden of Whimsy, where the seedlings of my semi new gardening obsession are starting to sprout.
This isn’t the same dusty crypt you left. It’s been softly reborn—cozier, spookier, and even more me.
Thank you for sticking around while I recharged in the shadows. I’ve missed you all more than you know, and I can’t wait to share what’s been brewing in the cauldron. Whether you’re here for stories, spells, or just the soft snores of sleepy cryptid pets—you’re always welcome.
The cave is warm again, and the lantern is lit.
Let’s wander onward together.
With eerie affection and cryptid cuddles,
🌙 The Crippled Cryptid
