Welcome back to The Crippled Cryptid,
A cozy little corner of the internet where disability, chronic illness, service dogs, and everyday magic gather like an unlikely Hawkins party preparing to face yet another Demogorgon.
Here, we roll with humor, honesty, and the chaotic reality of navigating life in a glitchy, haunted meat-suit that malfunctions more than Will Byers’ lights in Season 1.
Whether you’re here for education, solidarity, or a place to gently set your bones down and breathe, I’m really glad you found your way back. Pull up a chair. Grab something warm. Channel your inner Joyce Byers.
We have theories to decode.
Since it’s the holiday season, whatever and however you celebrate, I hope you’re finding moments of joy, warmth, and at least one day where the world feels a little less like the Upside Down.

STRANGER THINGS: THEORIES & PREDICTIONS
(Written in November. Fueled by caffeine. Powered by cryptid chaos.)
1. Henry Creel and Vecna Are Not the Same Person
Season 4 already hinted that the Mind Flayer saw something in Henry and used him like a psychic sock puppet. If Will could be mind-controlled, why not a child with telekinetic abilities?
This leaves room for Henry still being alive, buried deep inside Vecna’s psyche, like a prisoner locked in his own mental cellar.
Fun Fact: The Duffers have said Vecna was the first villain they conceptualized for the show, before even the Demogorgon.
2. Eleven Is Henry’s Biological Daughter
It sounds wild… until you do the math.
Henry, Joyce, Hopper, Bob, and Terry Ives were all teenagers around the same time.
Brenner was meddling in everything he could get his hands on.
El and Henry’s powers mirror each other eerily well.
And stranger things, pun very intended, have happened in this show.
Fun Fact: Millie Bobby Brown originally auditioned with lines from Poltergeist. The Duffers wanted El to feel like a blend of E.T. and a haunted ’70s horror kid.
3. Dustin Is Going to Die (and I Hate It)
Dustin is my disability representation, my favorite chaos gremlin, and the emotional heart of the group.
But narratively, the parallels are loud:
• wearing Eddie’s ring
• adopting Eddie’s clothing style
• growing out his hair
• following Eddie’s path
And Eddie told him:
“Watch over the sheep.”
Emotionally?
Absolutely not. I reject this in every timeline.
Fun Fact: Gaten Matarazzo has played multiple Broadway roles since childhood. His Season 1 scream cracked mid-take, and the Duffers kept it.
4. Max Is Going to Die
All four limbs broken. Sensory bleeding. Momentary consciousness.
Even with El’s attempt to pull her back, Max didn’t return fully.
I think she’s either:
• stuck in the Upside Down, or
• trapped somewhere inside Vecna’s mindscape
Not truly recoverable.
Still… I think we’ll see her again in Season 5. At least for a little while.
Fun Fact: Sadie Sink did almost all of her running scenes herself. Kate Bush personally approved “Running Up That Hill” because she’s a fan of the show.
5. Eleven Might Have to Die to Close the Gates
If she’s the opposing force to Henry, or connected by blood, she may be the key to sealing the Four Horsemen gates.
That would destroy Hopper.
And me.
And most of the fanbase.
But narratively? It tracks.
Fun Fact: Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour describe El and Hopper’s relationship as messy, traumatized, and deeply loving.
6. Hopper Will Sacrifice Himself for Eleven
Hopper already lost one daughter.
He will not lose another.
If saving El requires sacrifice, Hop will go out swinging.
Fun Fact: David Harbour filmed Season 4 and Black Widow simultaneously, which is why the shaved head happened. He’s said he sometimes forgot which dystopian prison he was in.
7. Hawkins Is Going to Fall
Buffy fans know: sometimes the Hellmouth collapses. Sometimes the town goes with it.
The Upside Down is Hawkins’ dark mirror.
Destroy one, destroy both.
The Four Horsemen gates being open may mean the only way to win is total destruction.
Fun Fact: The Hawkins map was designed early so the Duffers could track supernatural fault lines years in advance.
8. Vecna Isn’t Done with Will Byers
Will’s connection to the Mind Flayer was too deep. Too emotional. Too intimate.
There’s still a psychic tether.
Do I think Will needs to die? No.
Do I think something big is coming for him? Absolutely.
Fun Fact: Noah Schnapp improvised parts of Will’s emotional confession in Season 4. The tears weren’t scripted.
9. Kali (Eight) Is Coming Back
Season 2 left a massive narrative gap.
The Duffers have said her storyline matters, and The First Shadow reinforces Henry’s early history.
Season 5 feels like the moment to close that loop.
Fun Fact: Linnea Berthelsen has said she hopes for a final reckoning or a team-up between Eleven and Eight.
10. We’re Going to Learn More About Henry Creel
We know:
• he’s One
• he’s Vecna
• he grew up alongside Joyce, Hopper, and Bob
But we don’t know why he was the way he was.
Or what the Upside Down saw in him.
Or what happened before Brenner.
About Stranger Things: The First Shadow
I haven’t seen it yet, but it is officially canon. Fans say it reframes Henry’s entire origin.
I’m begging for a filmed version for those of us not in London.
(I’m in the Chicagoland area. I have questions. They need answers.)
Fun Fact: Audience members have reported “Vecna-level dread” from the play’s practical effects.

11. No Matter How It Ends, I’m Not Ready
Stranger Things has been with me through grief, injury, chronic illness, and rebuilding.
My mom and I started it together, even though we never finished Season 1 before she passed.
M&M and I watched it in 2020 when I was laid up with injuries after Mom died, while the world was deep in COVID chaos.
I grew up with these kids.
I’m not ready for goodbye.
I’m still not over:
• Bob Newby, superhero
• Billy’s redemption arc, yes it counts
• Eddie “I love you, man” Munson
Whatever happens, I’ll feel it in my whole eldritch soul.

Keep Your Christmas Lights Plugged In
So, what do you think, fellow cryptids of Hawkins?
Will any of these theories hold up, or have they already unraveled by the time you’re reading this from the safe side of January 2026?
I’ll be watching as soon as episodes drop, likely from Bed Jail™, because by then I’ll be on a five-day heart monitor. Chronic illness really said, “final season viewing experience, but make it medical.” Because you know, future Sky needed to pop in and make an appearance here, and let you all know I’m still alive.
Luna will be snoring like a cozy little Demodog at my feet, and I promise:
No spoilers. Not here. Not anywhere. Not until everyone’s had time.
Social media may be the True Mind Flayer, but at The Crippled Cryptid, we protect each other.
Until next time,
Keep your walkie-talkies charged, your lights strung, and your party assembled.
Written with coffee beside me, inside my Stranger Things hoodie, with Luna snoring at my feet.
